معرفی
Annemarie Meijer is a Professor of Immunobiology at the Faculty of Science, Leiden University, and head of the Animal Sciences research cluster. Her work focuses on host-pathogen interactions using zebrafish models for intracellular bacterial infections, particularly Mycobacteria and Salmonella. She also serves as a Confidential Counsellor for PhD students in the Graduate School of Science.
- Key research areas: Autophagy, LC3-associated phagocytosis, hypoxia signaling, innate immunity, zebrafish infection models.
Her publications highlight mechanisms of host defense against intracellular pathogens, with a 2022 review analyzing bacterial evasion of LAP and a 2013 study demonstrating HIF-1α priming of neutrophils via iNOS to reduce mycobacterial burden. Earlier work (1998) explored programmed cell death in plant development.
- Scientific contributions: NWO grant (2022), ZF-HEALTH and FishForPharma project participant.
She supervises current and former PhD candidates, including Bas Leemburg, Saloni Saxena, and alumni like Jiajun Xie. Her research facilities include the Cell Observatory and collaborations in European networks (TRANSAUTOPHAGY, FishForPharma).
