Dr. Annegret Burtscher is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Radboud University, specializing in Mathematical General Relativity. Her research focuses on the large-scale geometry and dynamics of spacetimes, combining techniques from differential geometry, geometric analysis, and hyperbolic PDEs. She holds affiliations with the Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Physics research groups.
Her research explores low-regularity spacetimes, spacetime convergence via null distance, and geometric singularities. Notable grants include the NWO Vidi and Veni grants, and awards such as the L'Oréal Unesco Austria 'For Women in Science' Award (2012) and the Austrian Mathematical Society PhD Thesis Award (2014).
Burtscher teaches courses in Analysis/PDEs, Differential Geometry, and Mathematical Physics, supervising bachelor and master theses. She actively organizes workshops and colloquia, including the Joint Online Mathematical Relativity Colloquium.
Key publications include studies on global hyperbolicity via null distance, spacetime convergence, and weak Bianchi identities in singular spacetimes. Her work bridges geometric analysis with foundational questions in relativity, addressing both theoretical and applied aspects of spacetime structure.
