Anne Trefethen is a Professor of Scientific Computing and Pro-Vice-Chancellor for People and Digital at the University of Oxford. She leads the Institute for the Future of Computing, part of the James Martin 21st Century School, and is affiliated with the Oxford e-Research Centre. Previously, she directed the UK e-Science Core Programme and held roles in industry including VP of R&D at NAG Ltd and research scientist positions at the Cornell Theory Center and Thinking Machines Corporation.
Her research focuses on enabling interdisciplinary computing through high-level languages, multi-touch technology, and energy-efficient algorithms. She emphasizes accessibility to complex systems and extreme computing challenges.
Awarded Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (FREng), her contributions span computational science, numerical algorithms, and grid infrastructure. She collaborates with industry to advance middleware and high-performance computing solutions.
