Anne Skjævestad is a researcher affiliated with the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Agder. She works within the Department of Global Development and Community Planning while conducting a public sector doctorate focused on housing policy topics at Husbanken Sør. Her research emphasizes the interplay between environmentally sustainable local community development and social justice.
Her studies investigate how social sustainability can be enhanced in urban neighborhoods by analyzing connections between housing quality, participatory planning processes, and social environments. The project explores proximity to neighbors, daily amenities, and recreational opportunities as factors shaping interaction, inclusion, and place attachment. She critically examines discourses around 'compact city' and 'social sustainability' frameworks and their application in planning contexts.
Skjævestad's 2010 publication on Mapuche indigenous land rights litigation highlights her broader interest in legal strategies for social and environmental justice. Current work emphasizes co-production of knowledge among diverse stakeholders in community planning.
She is part of the Urban and Regional Planning (URPLAN) research group. Contact: anne.skjavestad@uia.no | Office H2013, Kristiansand, Norway.
