معرفی
Anne Shiu is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Texas A&M University. She holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley, with an emphasis in Genomic and Computational Biology. Her research focuses on algebraic, geometric, and combinatorial approaches to mathematical biology, particularly biochemical reaction networks, neural coding, and parameter identifiability.
Her academic career includes postdoctoral fellowships at Duke University and the University of Chicago. She has organized workshops, REU programs, and conferences, including the Texas Algebraic Geometry Symposium and the SIAM Conference on Applied Algebraic Geometry. Shiu has mentored numerous Ph.D. students, postdocs, and undergraduates, contributing to the development of future researchers in her field.
Her research interests span algebraic approaches to biochemical systems, including multistationarity analysis, absolute concentration robustness, and neural coding geometry. Notable publications include work on toric dynamical systems, siphons in reaction networks, and convexity in neural codes.
Shiu has received prestigious awards such as the NSF CAREER Award and the Texas A&M College of Science Teaching Award. She serves on the editorial board of the SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics and actively participates in initiatives to promote diversity in STEM.
