Anne Martin

Anne Martin serves as founding Dean and Associate Professor of Interior Design at Anderson University's School of Interior Design, where she has been a dedicated faculty member since 1981. Coming from a family legacy at the institution (her mother served Anderson College for forty years), she embodies the university's Christ-centered mission through her passion for teaching and mentorship.

Her educational background includes an A.A. from Anderson College, B.S. and M.Ed. from the University of Georgia, with further studies at the University of Georgia, University of Tennessee, and Harvard University's Graduate School of Design.

Dr. Martin's research focuses on human-centered design addressing cultural and demographic influences for diverse populations including children, elderly, and disabled individuals. Her specialties encompass historic architecture, decorative arts, internship development, and industry-academia collaboration to create meaningful environments across healthcare, hospitality, and educational typologies.

Her exceptional contributions have earned recognition through:

• National Faculty Advisor of the Year Honorable Mention from the American Society of Interior Design
• Educator of the Year from ASID Carolina’s Chapter
• President’s Award from Anderson College

As an educator, Dr. Martin prepares students for professional practice through engaged, storytelling-based instruction with real-world applications. She takes particular satisfaction in observing students transition into impactful design careers focused on creating healing environments across multiple sectors.
