Anne Margaret Baxley

Anne Margaret Baxley is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Washington University, where she also serves as Director of Undergraduate Studies. Her research focuses on Kant's ethics and the history of ethical theory.

Her work explores Kant's moral psychology and theory of virtue, emphasizing the concept of autocracy as moral self-government. She argues for a distinctively modern, egalitarian interpretation of virtue ethics contrasting with Aristotelian traditions.
