معرفی
Anne-Linn Akselsen serves as Associate Professor and Head of the Bachelor's programme in Contemporary Dance at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KHiO), a position she has held since joining the institution in 2018. She previously held the significant leadership role of Pro-Rector from 2019 to 2021, demonstrating her commitment to institutional development within the arts academy.
Her educational foundation was established at:
- Royal Swedish Ballet School in Stockholm
- P.A.R.T.S. (Performing Arts Research and Training Studios) in Brussels, where she completed both training and research cycles
Akselsen's research centers on the intersection of contemporary dance practice and scholarly inquiry, with particular emphasis on gestural documentation, choreographic dramaturgy, and pedagogical innovation. She investigates how embodied knowledge can be systematically preserved and transmitted through collaborative artistic research, often challenging conventional boundaries between performance creation and academic study. Her work consistently bridges theoretical frameworks with physical practice.
Analysis of her recent publications reveals a clear trajectory toward systematizing dance knowledge: projects like "Library of gestures" (2024) and the "Forum Dans" series (2022-2023) demonstrate methodical approaches to documenting dance practices, while performance works such as "Mountaineers" (2023) and "Carousel" (2018) showcase experimental narrative structures and spatial choreography within contemporary dance contexts.
Her contributions to the field have been recognized through prestigious awards:
- 1st prize at the Baltic Movement Contest for best solo choreography "Sing me, for your life, in a Portuguese Folia, the reason for your happiness"
- Statens Kunstnerstipend (Norwegian State Artist Grant)
Akselsen's advisory impact is evident through her leadership as programme head and former Pro-Rector, where she has shaped curriculum development across Nordic dance education. Her founding of "Human Works" (2009) with Adrián Minkowicz exemplifies her commitment to collaborative creation, while her international teaching engagements at institutions like P.A.R.T.S. and SEAD extend her influence beyond KHiO.
She maintains active involvement in both academic and professional dance spheres through her company "Human Works", ongoing collaborations with major dance institutions, and participation in international artistic research initiatives.
