Anne-Johan Annema is a Professor at the University of Twente's Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS). He earned his MSc and PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Twente in 1990 and 1994, respectively, with his doctoral work published as a book titled Feed-Forward Neural Networks. His career spans semiconductor research at Philips, with a focus on analog/mixed-signal circuit design and deep-submicrometer technologies, and he co-founded ChipDesignWorks in 2001.
Research interests include physics-electronics intersections, such as:
- Switched mode RF power amplifiers
- Low-power and accurate reference circuits
- CMOS process feasibility for analog applications
- Optical integration on CMOS
He holds 14 patents and has received multiple educational awards, including two Opel awards (2003, 2006) and the 2012 AT award. Since 2017, he has served as Program Director for Electrical Engineering and chaired faculty scholarship committees.
