Professor Anne Hudson was a distinguished academic in Medieval English Literature at the University of Oxford's Faculty of English. She held a Tutorial Fellowship at Lady Margaret Hall from 1963 and became Professor of Medieval English (1989–2003) with a concurrent Professorial Fellowship. Her legacy includes endowing scholarships for graduate students researching Middle English, notably the Anne Hudson Scholarship (Lady Margaret Hall) and the Pamela Gradon Scholarship (St Hugh's College).
Her research focused on Wycliffite writings, particularly the Wycliffite Bible and sermons, producing foundational works like The Premature Reformation and Lollards and Their Books. She co-led the 'Towards a new edition of the Wycliffite Bible' project (2016–2018). Awards include Fellowships from the Royal Historical Society (1976) and British Academy (1988), and honorary fellowships from Lady Margaret Hall and St Hugh's College.
