Anne Hennke

Anne Hennke is a geoscientist at GEOMAR - Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel, working within the Ocean Research Technology Centre. As a member of the GEOMAR Data Science Unit, she specializes in bathymetric and hydroacoustic data analysis, with a focus on making complex marine science accessible through interactive storymaps and data visualization tools. Her work bridges technical data analysis with marine research questions, contributing to GEOMAR's research program 'Changing Earth - Sustaining our Future.'

Her recent work spans from practical tools like the QGIS Guide for Marine Scientists (2024) to interactive storymaps exploring diverse marine environments including seagrass ecosystems in the Baltic Sea, submarine volcanism at Kolumbo Volcano, and the long-term biogeochemical monitoring at Boknis Eck Time-Series Station. She has made significant contributions to deep-sea research, particularly through her work analyzing the long-term impacts of seabed disturbance in the DISCOL experiment.

As part of her ongoing research, Hennke is collaborating on the development of "Validity" software for automatic feature recognition in hydrographic datasets, demonstrating her commitment to advancing analytical methods in marine science. This project, currently in development with a 2025 release version, aims to improve the processing and interpretation of complex marine data.
