Anne Hardgrove is an Associate Professor of History at the University of Texas at San Antonio, specializing in South Asian studies and interdisciplinary research. She holds a B.A. from Carleton College and a Ph.D. in Anthropology and History from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Her work explores regional identity formation, transnational sexuality, and cultural memory.

Her research spans South Asian cultural and social history, with a focus on marginalized communities, legal frameworks, and the interplay of tradition and modernity. Recent articles investigate topics like hijra legal marginalization (2024), transnational identity (2018), and colonial architectural commodification (2002). Themes include gender, class, diaspora, and visual culture.
