Anne Gerd Granås is a Professor at the University of Oslo's Department of Pharmacy, specializing in Pharmaceutics and Social Pharmacy. She holds additional roles as a Professor II at Oslo Metropolitan University and a Senior Adviser at the Norwegian Directorate of Health. Her academic journey includes a Master's degree from the University of Oslo (1995) and a PhD in Clinical Pharmacy from the University of London (2000).
Her research focuses on eHealth, medication adherence, patient safety, and deprescribing strategies, particularly in elderly populations. She has led studies on medication optimization interventions, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the implementation of shared medication lists in healthcare settings. Her work emphasizes improving healthcare systems through pharmaceutical expertise and patient-centered care.
Granås has published extensively on topics like medication errors, multidose drug dispensing, and the use of STOPP/START criteria. Her contributions to research networks include PharmaSafe (PharmacoEpidemiology and Drug Safety) and the WHO Collaborating Center for Research and Training in the Patient Perspective on Medicines Use. She is a recipient of the Pharmacist of the Year 2019 award and a Fulbright Scholar at the University of California, San Diego (2017–2018).
Her professional engagements span roles in the European Society of Clinical Pharmacy, editorial boards, and international conferences. She is also a co-author of Norway's first textbook in Social Pharmacy and teaches courses on research methods and qualitative analysis.
Granås' research highlights include advancing deprescribing practices for frail older adults, evaluating medication adherence interventions across Europe, and improving medication safety through eHealth tools and interdisciplinary teamwork.
