Anne Elizabeth Stie is an Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science and Management, University of Agder. She holds a PhD from the University of Oslo with a thesis on EU democracy. Her teaching includes courses on political theory, international politics, and citizenship. Her research focuses on democracy beyond the nation-state, EU integration, decision-making processes, and Norway’s EU relations. She is affiliated with the CeDiT (Centre for Digital Transformation) and European Integration research groups.
Education: PhD in Political Science (University of Oslo), Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science.
Research Interests: EU institutional dynamics, democratic accountability, deliberative democracy, expertise in policy-making, Nordic cooperation, and Norway’s European policy. Her work emphasizes critical analysis of EU governance structures and democratic legitimacy challenges.
Publications: Over 20 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, including key works on EU trilogues, democratic deficits, and Nordic cooperation. Recent contributions address Norway’s EEA Review and EU crisis responses.
Grants/Advising: Supervises BA, MA, and PhD students. Engages in collaborative research on digital transformation and transnational governance.
