Professor Anne Christine Davis holds the academic rank of Professor of Mathematical Physics at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP), University of Cambridge. She has been a faculty member since 2002, previously serving as Reader (1996–2000) and College Teaching Officer at King's College Cambridge (1988–1995). Her research focuses on Particle Cosmology, particularly modified gravity theories such as the chameleon model and scalar-tensor theories. Her work includes studying the cosmological evolution of chameleons, solar system constraints, and detecting chameleons via Casimir force experiments. She also explores inflationary cosmology and extra-dimensional theories.
Her career includes roles at prestigious institutions: a Research Council Advanced Fellow at DAMTP (1983–1988), postdoctoral positions at Imperial College London (1978–1980) and Durham University (1976–1978), and fellowships at CERN (1980–1982) and the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton (1982–1983). She is also the University Gender Equality Champion for STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine) since 2014.
Her research group affiliations include the High Energy Physics and Relativity and Gravitation groups at DAMTP. She contributes to teaching Principles of Quantum Mechanics. Her recent publications (2021–2024) emphasize scalar-tensor gravity, dark energy interactions, and cosmological constraints, with experimental applications in Casimir force tests and pulsar timing.
