Anne-Catherine Bachoud-Levi

Anne-Catherine Bachoud-Levi is Professor of Neurology (MD, PhD) and heads the Neurology Department at Henri Mondor hospital. She leads the INSERM team 'Interventional neuropsychology' developed at the Institut Mondor de Recherche Biomédicale (IMRB) and the Labex Institut de la Cognition (IEC). She directs the National Reference Centre for Huntington disease and created the French Huntington Study Group in 2002, serving as French coordinator for the European Huntington's Disease Network cohort 'REGISTRY'.

Her research focuses on clinical and translational aspects of Huntington's disease, with expertise in cognitive processing (holding a PhD in psycholinguistics), innovative cell and gene therapies, and longitudinal cognitive assessment in neurodegenerative conditions. Her work particularly emphasizes language and social cognition, developing specialized assessments for care, cohorts, and therapeutic trials. She teaches at Cogmaster (ENS), Master de Santé (UPE), DU maladies rares, and the Medical Faculty in Créteil.

Analysis of her recent publications (2022-2024) reveals a strong emphasis on digital cognitive monitoring tools, speech pattern analysis in Huntington's disease, modifiable factors affecting disease progression, and the neural mechanisms underlying cognitive functions in neurodegeneration. Her work increasingly incorporates machine learning approaches for dementia detection and integrates multi-modal assessment techniques.

She has supervised numerous PhD students including C. Jacquemot, M. Teichmann, L. Cleret de Langavant, M. Couette, S. Sambin, and C. Schramm, establishing a productive research lineage in cognitive neuroscience and neurodegenerative disease research.

Her laboratory, NeuroPsychologie Interventionnelle (NPI), located at 29 rue d'Ulm in Paris, serves as the hub for her research activities, with additional facilities at the Faculty of Medicine in Créteil. She maintains active collaborations across European research networks focused on rare neurological diseases.
