Anne Bukten is a Researcher at the Norwegian Centre for Addiction Research, University of Oslo, with an adjunct position at the University College of Norwegian Correctional Service. She earned her PhD (2012) and MA in Social Psychology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
Her research focuses on mental health, substance use disorders, prison health systems, mortality epidemiology, and registry-based studies. She leads the research groups 'Registry-based drug and addiction research' and 'Substance use and mental disorders.'
Bukten's publications analyze opioid treatment efficacy, prison healthcare access, mortality risks post-release, and cross-national comparisons of Scandinavian correctional systems. Her work demonstrates strong methodological expertise in cohort studies and registry linkages.
She supervises PhD candidates including Vegard Svendsen and Nicoline Lokdam, and contributes to the EMCDDA Prison Workbook. Bukten coordinates the PriSUD project examining substance disorders in incarcerated populations.
