Anne Blaes, MD, MS is a Professor of Medicine and Director of Cancer Survivorship Services and Translational Research at the University of Minnesota, affiliated with the Masonic Cancer Center and the Division of Hematology, Oncology and Transplantation. She serves as Co-Director of the Screening, Prevention, Etiology and Cancer Survivorship Program and holds the BJ Kennedy Chair of Oncology.
Her research focuses on cancer survivorship, cardio-oncology, aging in cancer survivors, and medical cannabis use in oncology. She investigates time burdens in cancer care, immune-related toxicities, and long-term effects of cancer therapies, including cardiotoxicity and frailty. Her work spans breast cancer, hematologic malignancies, and gastrointestinal cancers, with a strong emphasis on multicenter collaborations and patient-reported outcomes.
Recent publications highlight her leadership in time toxicity analysis, immune checkpoint inhibitor complications, and cardioprotective strategies during cancer treatment. She actively contributes to Cancer Prevention and Control through the COMET trial and All of Us Research Program, addressing health disparities and financial toxicity in survivorship care.
