Dr. Anne Barber is a Software Development Scientist at the Centre for Environmental Modelling and Computation (CEMAC), University of Leeds. Her expertise spans atmospheric convection, catastrophe modeling, and high-resolution cloud modeling, alongside technical skills in Python programming and scientific computing.
Education:
- Masters in Applied Meteorology and Climatology, University of Birmingham (2012)
- PhD in Atmospheric Science, University of Leeds (2021)
Research Interests: Anne focuses on atmospheric processes such as convective updraft initiation, sub-cloud variability, and gravity wave interactions. Her work bridges academic research and industrial applications, including flood risk modeling and software development for environmental systems.
Experience:
- Met Office (2012–2016): Operational Meteorologist providing forecasts for aviation, commercial, and marine sectors.
- JBA Risk Management (Post-PhD): Catastrophe flood risk analyst and contributor to US flood model development.
Labs/Teams: CEMAC at the University of Leeds, where she advances computational tools for environmental science.
