Anne B. McCoy is the Natt-Lingafelter Professor of Chemistry at the University of Washington, Department of Chemistry, within the College of Arts & Sciences. Previously, she held positions at The Ohio State University from 1994 to 2015. Her research focuses on theoretical and computational chemistry, particularly systems involving large-amplitude vibrational motions relevant to astrochemistry, atmospheric chemistry, and combustion processes.
- Education: Ph.D. Chemistry (1992, University of Wisconsin–Madison); B.S. Chemistry (1987, Haverford College)
Research interests include developing novel computational methods to study molecular dynamics, hydrogen bonding, and charge transfer phenomena. She collaborates closely with experimental groups to validate theoretical models. McCoy is widely recognized for her contributions to physical chemistry and education.
- Awards: Multiple fellowships (APS, ACS, AAAS), Garvin-Olin Medal (2021), Jack Simons Award (2022), Herschbach Medal (2025)
She has served as Senior Editor (Journal of Physical Chemistry, 2005–2011), Deputy Editor (JPC-A, 2011–2020), and held leadership roles in ACS committees and the American Physical Society’s Chemical Physics Division. Currently accepting new graduate students.
