Annalisa Mosca is a Senior Lecturer at Purdue University’s School of Languages and Cultures (SLC), where she coordinates the Beginner and Intermediate Italian Language Sequence since 2011. She teaches foundational Italian courses, including intensive sequences and conversation, and redesigned ITAL 202 as 'Italian for the Professions'. She leads the faculty-led 'A Multicultural Experience - Trieste Summer Abroad' program in Italy, which combines Italian language study with professional development for SLC graduate students.
- Education: D.M.L. (Doctorate of Modern Languages) from Middlebury College Language Schools.
Her research and pedagogical focus spans language pedagogy, technology integration in language teaching, literacy in foreign languages (especially Italian as a Second Language), Italian and French cultural studies, and intercultural competence. She pioneered a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) project on 'Art and Identity' at Purdue and advocates for active intercultural learning methodologies.
Scientific Awards and Honors:
- IMPACT Faculty Fellow (Fall 2018 Cohort) with a grant for curriculum redesign.
- GIL scholar (CILMAR, Spring 2019) and Intercultural Mentor/IDI debriefer collaborator.
Annalisa also serves as the Italian Club Advisor at Purdue and previously held leadership roles, including Midwest Representative for the American Association of Teachers of Italian (AATI) until 2023. She has been actively involved in the College Board’s AP Reading for Italian and presented at pedagogical conferences.
