Annakarin Olsson is an Associate Professor and University Lecturer at the University of Gävle, with shared assignments as program manager for the 'Digital Shapeshifting' research program (focused on healthcare digitalization) and deputy education director for the Nursing Program offered in collaboration with China's University of Lishui. As a registered nurse and Doctor of Medicine, her clinical expertise spans elderly care in Swedish/Norwegian contexts and neonatal care.
Research Focus: Her work centers on health promotion for older adults, caregivers, and healthcare professionals, with emphasis on:
- Digital healthcare transformation and societal challenges
- Elderly welfare including loneliness, post-hospitalization recovery, and eating disorders
- Interprofessional communication in psychiatric care
- Cross-cultural elderly care (Sweden-China)
Publication Trends: Recent articles reflect interdisciplinary approaches spanning geriatric psychiatry, healthcare technology, environmental monitoring systems, and pandemic impacts on elderly patients. Methodologically, she frequently employs qualitative designs (ethnography, interviews) and technical validation studies.
Supervision: Currently assists in supervising PhD student Ingela Rudberg's project on psychiatric outpatient communication.
