معرفی
Dr. Anna Victoria Molofsky is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where she is affiliated with the UCSF Weill Institute for Neurosciences and the School of Medicine. Her research focuses on the intersection of neuroscience and immunology, particularly examining how glial cells contribute to neural development and function.
Dr. Molofsky received her B.A. from Amherst College, followed by both her M.D. and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. She completed her Adult Psychiatry Residency at the University of California-San Francisco.
Dr. Molofsky's research primarily investigates the roles of astrocytes and microglia in neural circuit development and function. Her work has revealed critical mechanisms by which these glial cells shape synapse formation, neural connectivity, and brain organization. She has made significant contributions to understanding how immune-related processes in the brain influence neural development and contribute to neurological disorders. Her research bridges the fields of neuroscience, immunology, and psychiatry, providing new insights into the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying brain health and disease.
Analysis of Dr. Molofsky's recent publications reveals a strong focus on neuroimmunology and glial cell biology. Her work consistently examines how astrocytes and microglia interact to shape neural circuits during development and in disease states. There is a clear progression from basic cellular mechanisms to implications for neurological and psychiatric disorders, particularly in recent years. Her research increasingly incorporates advanced techniques including transcriptomics, in vivo imaging, and sophisticated behavioral analyses.

Dr. Molofsky has secured significant research funding as Principal Investigator on multiple NIH grants, including an NIH R01 grant for 'Microglial remodeling of the extracellular matrix in memory circuits' (2020-2025) and another R01 for 'Astrocyte-microglial communication in developmental synapse formation' (2019-2023). She also received a prestigious NIH New Innovator Award in 2017 and funding from the Pew Charitable Trusts and Burroughs Wellcome Fund to support her innovative research on glial cell biology.
Dr. Molofsky leads the Anna Molofsky Lab at UCSF, which is affiliated with both the Neuroscience Graduate Program and the Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program. Her lab employs a multidisciplinary approach combining molecular, cellular, and systems neuroscience techniques to investigate how glial cells contribute to neural circuit development and function. The lab's research has important implications for understanding neurodevelopmental disorders and identifying potential therapeutic targets.
