Anna Vescovo serves as Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, where she joined the faculty in fall 2019. She holds dual administrative roles as Director of the Externship Program and Coordinator of Legal Methods, overseeing practical training initiatives while teaching foundational courses to law students.
Her educational background includes a J.D. from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law (1991) and a Business Finance degree from the University of Memphis (1988). This combination of legal and business education informs her pragmatic approach to legal training.
Professor Vescovo specializes in Legal Writing, Appellate Law, and Judicial Process, drawing directly from her 25+ years of judicial clerkship experience. Her teaching emphasizes real-world application through externships and bar exam preparation, with research interests centered on legal pedagogy, professional skills development, and judicial writing standards.
As Director of the Externship Program, she manages student placements across 150+ legal organizations including federal courts, district attorneys' offices, and public interest law firms. Her community engagement extends to the Association for Women Attorneys mentorship program and multiple Memphis nonprofit boards where she focuses on legal access initiatives.
