Anna Solms

Anna Solms is an economist at the Department of Macroeconomics at the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH). She joined in June 2022 and focuses on dynamic macroeconomics, particularly factors influencing regional development and economic inequality.

Her research integrates dynamic macroeconomic models with regional economic analysis, examining historical and contemporary drivers of economic inequality. Her work includes a study on Mediterranean economies' business cycle characteristics, linking secular trends and cycle dynamics to ancient and modern geopolitical factors.

Anna's publication explores how membership in historical entities like the Caliphate, Ottoman Empire, and colonial regimes, alongside modern population demographics and trade relationships, predict business cycle commonalities in Mediterranean economies.
