Professor Anna Smallwood is a Professor and Head of the Centre for Air Transport Management at Cranfield University. She holds dual Fellowships: Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society (FRAeS) and Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA). Her expertise spans Air Transport Management, Safety & Investigation, Aviation Operations, and Hydrogen initiatives. She has over 20 years of industry leadership in airlines, including roles at TUI Group and regulatory oversight. Her research focuses on sustainable air transport, digital aviation, and future airport design. She has led high-profile projects like the UK's first biofuel flight and Boeing 787 integration. Education includes a BA in English from Nottingham University and a Prince2 project management qualification. She also serves on aviation industry boards and national advisory groups.
