Anna Shechtman is an Assistant Professor of Literatures in English at Cornell University, specializing in media studies and American literature. She is writing a two-volume history of the concepts of 'media' and 'data' in the U.S., examining their evolution and interdisciplinary impacts. Her work challenges traditional boundaries between art, literature, and social science.

Professional Activities: She writes monthly crossword puzzles for The New Yorker and is an editor-at-large for the Los Angeles Review of Books. Her 2024 book The Riddles of the Sphinx examines feminist legacies in crossword puzzles.
Teaching: In 2025, she is teaching courses on Mass Culture and the Avant-Garde and Expository Writing.
