Dr. Anna Kaczan is a senior researcher at the Jerzy Bartmiński Ethnolinguistic Workshop, Institute of Linguistics and Literary Studies, Faculty of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. Since 2008, she has been actively involved in compiling the Dictionary of Folk Stereotypes and Symbols under the supervision of Jerzy Bartmiński and Stanisława Niebrzegowska-Bartmińska.
Her research focuses on:
- Ethnolinguistic analysis of plant symbolism
- Folkloristic aspects of agricultural terminology
- Cultural semantics of food-related vocabulary
- Lexicography of traditional Polish language concepts
- Cognitive linguistic approaches to rural traditions
- Slavic eco-linguistic knowledge systems
