Anna Kaczan

Dr. Anna Kaczan is a senior researcher at the Jerzy Bartmiński Ethnolinguistic Workshop, Institute of Linguistics and Literary Studies, Faculty of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. Since 2008, she has been actively involved in compiling the Dictionary of Folk Stereotypes and Symbols under the supervision of Jerzy Bartmiński and Stanisława Niebrzegowska-Bartmińska.

Her research focuses on:

• Ethnolinguistic analysis of plant symbolism
• Folkloristic aspects of agricultural terminology
• Cultural semantics of food-related vocabulary
• Lexicography of traditional Polish language concepts
• Cognitive linguistic approaches to rural traditions
• Slavic eco-linguistic knowledge systems
