Anna Jurek-Lougherey

Dr. Anna Jurek-Lougherey is a Senior Lecturer at Queen's University Belfast's School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Her research focuses on Machine Learning applications in precision medicine, online fake news detection, and heterogeneous data analysis. She leads and collaborates on projects such as the UKRI AI Centre for Sustainable Agriculture and the GroundsWell initiative. Dr. Jurek-Lougherey is actively involved in PhD supervision, accepting students in domains like computational methods for fake news detection and machine learning in bioinformatics.

Her research interests span theoretical and applied machine learning, data mining, and natural language processing. Notable projects include developing automated solutions for record linkage and analyzing online content for emotional bias detection. She has received the iiWAS 2021 Best Paper Award for contributions to fake news detection methodologies.
