Anna June Pagé is an Adjunct Professor in the Linguistics Department at the University of Vienna, specializing in comparative mythology and Indo-European studies. She earned her Ph.D. in Indo-European Studies from UCLA in 2014 with a dissertation titled 'Birth Narratives in Indo-European Mythology' under the supervision of Professor Joseph F. Nagy.
Her research focuses on the intersection of mythology, folklore, and linguistic traditions across Indo-European cultures, with particular emphasis on Celtic studies. Pagé's work demonstrates exceptional expertise in Irish and Welsh mythological traditions, examining narrative structures, heroic biography patterns, and cross-cultural parallels in birth and death narratives. She has made significant contributions to understanding how extraordinary birth motifs function within the broader context of Indo-European mythological systems.
Pagé's scholarly output reveals consistent thematic development centered on comparative mythological analysis, particularly examining how birth and death narratives function across different Indo-European traditions. Her work demonstrates sophisticated methodological approaches that combine philological analysis with structuralist and comparative frameworks. She has established herself as a specialist in analyzing heroic biography patterns across Celtic traditions and their Indo-European connections.
Her academic activity remains current with publications as recent as 2022, and she has presented her research at numerous international conferences including the Harvard Celtic Colloquium, the International Congress of Celtic Studies, and colloquia at the University of Edinburgh. As of January 2024, she has transitioned to using Humanities Commons as her primary repository for scholarly work.
