Anna Ingeborg Petursdottir is an Associate Professor of Behavior Analysis in the Department of Psychology at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). She holds a part-time lecturer appointment at Reykjavik University. Her primary research focuses on derived stimulus relations, verbal behavior, and foreign-language learning, with emphasis on translating behavioral processes into educational and intervention applications. She earned her Ph.D. in Psychology from Western Michigan University (2006) and previously served as an Associate Professor at Texas Christian University (2006–2023).
Her leadership roles include serving as President of Division 25 of the American Psychological Association and Editor-in-Chief of The Analysis of Verbal Behavior. Her lab, the Language & Learning Lab, investigates behavioral processes in language and cognition, emphasizing single-case experimental designs. Current students include Abraão Figueira de Melo (PhD) and Sadie Klassen (Master's).
Key research themes include bidirectional naming, stimulus control, and equivalence-based instruction. She has published extensively in journals like Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior and Psychological Record.
