Anna Gustafsson is an Associate Senior Lecturer at Lund University's Faculty of Engineering, affiliated with the Division for Biomedical Engineering. She contributes to the Engineering Health and Proactive Ageing profile areas, focusing on damage and fracture mechanisms in bone from an engineering perspective.
- Research: Bone as a composite material, age/disease-related mechanical behavior, computational modeling (XFEM, phase field methods), experimental validation of fracture models.
- Teaching: Applied mechanics courses at the Department of Biomedical Engineering since 2013, including Introduction to Biomedical Engineering (EITA01), Tissue Biomechanics (BMEN10), and Teknisk mekanik (FHL055).
- Collaboration: Active in multidisciplinary projects with Novo Nordisk Foundation, Swedish Research Council, and Crafoord Foundation.
Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals in health and engineering. Recent projects include predictive multi-scale modeling of knee osteoarthritis and experimental characterization of articular cartilage damage.
Scientific recognition: Recipient of two best student presentation awards at conferences in 2019 and 2018. Her research output (18 publications) demonstrates expertise in biomechanics, fracture toughness, and tissue imaging.
