Dr Anna Grinberg is a Lecturer and Piano Performance Fellow at the School of Music, University of Queensland. She holds a Doctoral Diploma of Musical Arts from SUNY Stony Brook and previously taught at Chapman University and California Institute of the Arts. Her primary roles include serving as Bachelor of Music Program Convenor, Integrity Officer, and piano instructor. Grinberg is renowned for her collaborative work with the Viney-Grinberg Duo, an ensemble-in-residence at UQ, which focuses on performing existing and newly commissioned works. Their projects have been funded by the Australia Council for the Arts and the Fromm Foundation, resulting in three CD releases and an APRA Award nomination.
Her research explores duo piano performance practice, culminating in her 2017 PhD thesis Touch Divided: artistic research in duo piano performance. She has performed globally with orchestras like the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and venues such as Carnegie Hall. Grinberg’s creative work emphasizes contemporary compositions, including world premieres by composers like Martin Bresnick and Stuart Greenbaum.
Her recent activities include virtual concert series during 2020 and recordings on Naxos and Tall Poppies. Grants and awards highlight her contributions to Australian and international musical landscapes. Teaching and performance remain central to her roles at UQ, alongside advocacy for new music creation and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
