Anna Granat

Dr. Anna Granat is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Information Science, Bibliology and Media Education within the Faculty of Political Science and Journalism at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin, Poland. She holds both a PhD and habilitated doctorate (dr hab.) in Social Sciences, specializing in Media and Social Communication Sciences.

Her research focuses on media linguistics, examining linguistic pragmatics in media contexts including the language of broadcasters, recipients, and media messages. She investigates media message reception across different demographic groups, communicative effects of media interactions, media education practices, and media credibility with particular attention to disinformation, persuasion, manipulation, propaganda, and fake news detection. Her work spans from preschool children to adult audiences, documenting how media shapes communication behaviors and perceptions.

Dr. Granat's recent scholarly work demonstrates a consistent focus on evolving media phenomena, with increasing attention to digital communication patterns, human-machine interaction, and the mediatization of language. Her publications reveal a methodical approach to studying media reception across age groups while adapting to new media environments. She has made significant contributions to understanding how traditional media influences communication behaviors and how these dynamics are changing in digital contexts.

As an active academic, Dr. Granat has edited/co-edited eight volumes in the "Recepcja mediów" (Media Reception) series published by UMCS between 2015-2022. Her scholarly output includes numerous monographs and over 50 articles in both Polish and international journals, reflecting her commitment to contributing to the global discourse on media studies while addressing context-specific issues in Polish media education.
