Anna Di Natale is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Passau's Chair of Multilingual Computational Linguistics, Germany. Previously, she held a Postdoctoral position at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Austria, and completed her PhD in Computer Science at Graz University of Technology and Complexity Science Hub Vienna under Prof. David Garcia. Her research bridges applied mathematics and linguistics, focusing on computational methods to analyze semantic networks, cultural phenomena, and affective meaning in language.
- Education:
- PhD (2019-2023): Graz University of Technology & Complexity Science Hub Vienna
- MSc (2016-2018): General and Applied Mathematics, University of Bologna (110/110 cum laude)
- BSc (2013-2016): Mathematics, University of Bologna (105/110)
Her work explores colexification networks to understand lexical meaning, develop tools like LEXpander for automated lexicon expansion, and analyze cultural artifacts such as zodiac signs and emojis. She actively contributes to computational social science, emotion studies, and open data initiatives.
Publications highlight interdisciplinary approaches to semantics, affective computing, and network science. She has presented her research at venues like NetSci, IC2S2, and ESSLLI. Her projects are funded by institutions including the Vienna Science and Technology Fund (WWTF).
