معرفی
Dr. Anna Borlase is a Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Research Fellow in the Department of Biology at the University of Oxford. She transitioned from veterinary medicine to epidemiology, earning a BSc in Veterinary Medicine with a second undergraduate degree in Pathology and Microbiology from the University of Bristol, followed by an MSc from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and a PhD from the Royal Veterinary College and LSHTM. Her research focuses on neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), particularly trachoma and schistosomiasis, using mathematical modeling and statistical analysis to address operational and policy challenges. She emphasizes One Health approaches to zoonotic diseases and hybridized infections, aiming to mitigate morbidity and transmission hotspots.
Education:
- BSc Veterinary Medicine, University of Bristol
- BSc Pathology and Microbiology, University of Bristol
- MSc Epidemiology, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine
- PhD in Veterinary Epidemiology, Royal Veterinary College & LSHTM
Research Interests:
Her work combines quantitative methods with field studies, exploring multi-host transmission dynamics in NTDs, hybridized morbidity in Senegal, and the impact of pandemic disruptions on NTD programs. She advocates for interventions targeting livestock and human-animal interfaces to control schistosomiasis and reduce drug resistance.
Scientific Awards:
- Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Research Fellowship
Grants & Advising:
No information provided on active grants or student advising.
Labs & Teams:
Leads a research group focused on NTD modeling and One Health strategies, collaborating with global health organizations to inform policy decisions.
