Anna Bon

Anna Bon is a Lecturer at the Faculty of Science, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and holds roles at the Amsterdam Sustainability Institute and the Centre for International Cooperation. Her research focuses on Information and Communication Technologies for Development (ICT4D), with an emphasis on sustainable food systems in West Africa, digital inclusion, and AI-driven solutions for rural challenges. She earned her PhD from Maastricht University in 2020, exploring ICT4D project redesign through an interdisciplinary lens.

Her work addresses local value chains for cereal seeds, bridging indigenous knowledge with scientific frameworks to enhance food security. She actively contributes to initiatives like W4RA (Web Alliance for Regreening in Africa) and supports the Vienna Manifesto on Digital Humanism. Ancillary activities include guest lecturing at TU Wien, Austria (2025).

Research interests span digital humanism, ethics in tech, and innovative solutions for low-resource environments. Notable projects include the Amsterdam Digital Divide study and ICT4D Community Service Learning in Malaysia. Her publications emphasize co-creation, equity, and scalable technologies for marginalized communities.
