Anna Blackman is a Lecturer in Catholic Religious Education at the University of Glasgow’s School of Education, affiliated with the Pedagogy, Praxis and Faith Research and Teaching Group and the St. Andrew’s Foundation. Her work bridges Catholic theology, social ethics, and pedagogy, focusing on nonviolence, environmental justice, and grassroots movements like the Catholic Worker. She has held academic roles at institutions including the University of Notre Dame (as a Research Fellow), Durham University, and Tubingen University. Her research examines ethical frameworks in Catholic institutions, integrating social teaching into theological education.
Research interests include the intersection of Catholic social thought with political theology and Christian ethics, emphasizing dialogue with grassroots movements. She has organized conferences on topics like Laudato Si’ and COP26, and her work critiques institutional barriers to marginalized communities. Notable publications explore nonviolence theology, the Catholic Worker movement, and environmental justice.
