Dr. Anna Black holds dual roles as a GP University Lecturer (Year 3 GP Clinical Placement Lead and Practice Engagement) and Affiliate Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow’s Department of General Practice and Primary Care. She is also a part-time Scottish Human Rights Commissioner and a founding non-executive board member of Public Health Scotland. Her research focuses on health inequalities, particularly asylum seekers’ and refugees’ access to preventive care, using intersectionality and candidacy theories. She has contributed to training programs on caring for vulnerable populations in primary care across the West of Scotland.

Key grants include the Royal College of General Practitioners’ 2013–2014 grant for her work on preventive health interventions. She has published on inclusion health communication and Indigenous health policy reform.
