Research Interests: Anna Bax’s work bridges sociocultural, structural, applied, and theoretical linguistics. She studies multilingual identity and language socialization among Tu’un Savi (Mixtec)-speaking communities in California, focusing on first-generation language shift and community-led language reclamation. Additionally, she collaborates with speech-language pathologists, Indigenous youth, and public educators to combat oppressive linguistic ideologies. Her research also analyzes discursive world-building by powerful groups in American society, emphasizing the intersection of language and social justice.
