Anna Baumann is a doctoral researcher at the Historical Institute of the University of Bern, focusing on the intersections of gender history, technology, and labor. She is affiliated with the University of Bern’s School of History and collaborates on projects like the SNF-funded Digi-K initiative, which examines historical perspectives on digital labor, automation, and gig economy.
- Education: She holds a Master’s (2021) and Bachelor’s (2018) in History and German Language/Literature from the University of Zurich, with her thesis on state-feminism and gender equality policies in Zurich.
Her research interests span Gender History, History of Digital Change, and Technology and Gender, with a focus on the institutionalization of social movements and gendered labor dynamics. Her recent work explores telework in the 1980s, digital transitions, and household economies post-1945.
Anna has published in Traverse (2023) and co-edited Æther 04 (2021), analyzing digital labor’s societal impact. She has received prestigious funding, including the SNF Doc.CH Stipendium (2023–present) and SNF Mobility Grant (2024) for her research at the University of Graz.
