Ann V. Paterson serves as the Nell I. Mondy Professor and Chair of the Department of Natural Science at Williams College, where she has taught since 1999.
Her educational background:
- B.S. from Ursinus College
- M.S. and Ph.D. from University of Miami
Dr. Paterson specializes in Behavioral Ecology and Herpetology, conducting research on reptile and amphibian behavior, conservation biology, and ecological field studies. Her work bridges organismal biology with environmental science through empirical field observations and taxonomic analysis.
She holds significant leadership roles across major herpetological societies: General Herpetology Section editor and governing board member of Herpetological Conservation and Biology; president-elect and long-range planning chair for the Society for the Study of Reptiles and Amphibians; Williams Award Coordinator for the Herpetologists' League; and Sigma Xi Grants-in-Aid of Research judge and Finance Committee member. She also maintains membership in the Society for the Study of Amphibians and Reptiles in New Zealand.
