Ann S. Almgren

Ann S. Almgren is a Senior Scientist and Department Head of the Applied Mathematics Department within the Applied Mathematics and Computational Research (AMCR) Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. She leads major computational science initiatives including the AMReX framework for block-structured adaptive mesh refinement, which supports numerous application codes across multiple scientific domains.

Her research focuses on computational algorithms for solving partial differential equations with applications spanning astrophysics, atmospheric science, combustion, and biological modeling. She has made significant contributions to the development of high-resolution adaptive mesh codes optimized for modern multicore architectures.
