Ann Catherine Hoag is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Modern English Literature and Culture at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Arts. Her research focuses on Literary Theory & Criticism, Modernism, and Queer Studies, with a particular emphasis on Women's Travel Writing and Gender Studies.
Her work explores themes such as queer nationalism, temporal narratives in literature, and the intersection of gender with travel and space. Key publications include analyses of works by Kate O’Brien, Beryl Markham, and Elizabeth Bowen, as well as studies on interwar-era travel writing and modernist literature.
Dr. Hoag holds a position at the Research Centre Arts in Society (AiS) and her research contributes to understanding how literature reflects societal changes, gender dynamics, and cultural heritage. She has authored a book on women's travel writing in the interwar era and has published in journals such as Feminist Modernist Studies and Studies in Travel Writing.
