Ann Alkindi is a Researcher at SOAS University of London's School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics. Her academic journey includes an MSc in Organisational Leadership, and she is currently pursuing a PhD with a thesis titled Tazkiyat al-nafs in the Qur’an.
Research Interests
- Qur'anic Analysis: Thematic and contextual interpretations of the Qur’an, focusing on Tazkiyah (soul purification), Taswaf (Sufism), and ethical principles, particularly in Al-Ghazali's works.
- Islamic Psychology: Spiritual and psychological dimensions of Islam, including its influence on human nature, mental health, and personal development.
- Political & Economic Analysis: Intersection of Islamic principles with contemporary systems, aiming to create equitable and sustainable socioeconomic frameworks.
- Development Studies: Education’s role in community empowerment and the social, economic, and environmental impacts of Islamic charitable initiatives.
Her work bridges Quranic studies with development, political economy, and Islamic psychology to address global challenges. Supervised by Professor Muhammad A S Abdel Haleem, OBE.
