Ankita Sachla currently holds the position of Research Fellow in the Department of Microbiology at the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Cornell University. She earned her PhD in Biological Sciences from Georgia State University, where she focused on heme biochemistry in pathogenic Streptococci. Since joining the Helmann Lab in 2016 as a postdoctoral fellow, she has dedicated her research to understanding the role of unknown genes in Bacillus subtilis, particularly focusing on stress response mechanisms and adaptations. Her work contributes to broader efforts in microbial genetics and bacterial physiology, with potential implications for combating stress-related bacterial behaviors.
Dr. Sachla's research spans several subfields including:
- Molecular Biology
- Bacterial Pathogenesis
- Stress Response Mechanisms
- Genomics
- Heme Biochemistry
