Anjan Soumyanarayanan

Anjan Soumyanarayanan serves as Assistant Professor at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Senior Scientist/Programme Head at the Institute of Materials Research & Engineering (IMRE), A*STAR. His research centers on emergent topological and quantum phenomena in ultrathin materials and heterostructures, with emphasis on spin-related phenomena and device applications.

His educational foundation includes a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2013. His research program investigates chiral spin textures, correlated spin/charge-ordered states, topological surface states, and superconductivity in two-dimensional systems. He develops wafer-scale thin films using physical vapor deposition and nanofabrication techniques, while employing advanced characterization methods including magnetometry, multi-modal microscopy (AFM/MFM, STM, TEM, TXM/XMCD), and spectroscopy (tunneling, microwave, optical).

Publication analysis (2013-2021) reveals dominant focus on magnetic skyrmions and topological materials, with significant contributions to understanding skyrmion dynamics in multilayers, charge ordering in 2D materials, and Dirac fermion behavior in topological insulators. His work bridges fundamental quantum phenomena with spintronic device engineering, primarily published in Nature-family journals, Science, and PNAS.

His major recognitions include:
