Anja Dieterich

Prof. Dr. Anja Dieterich is Professor of Health Sciences with a focus on the design of healthcare processes at Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences Berlin (ASH Berlin) since 2022. Previously, she served as Professor for Methods of Empirical Social Research at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences for Social Work Berlin (2019-2022). Her academic career is complemented by extensive experience in healthcare consulting, research, and clinical practice across multiple prestigious institutions including Diakonie Deutschland, Berlin Social Science Center (WZB), Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, and Georg-August University of Göttingen.

Her research interests center on access to healthcare for vulnerable populations, development of support systems for socially disadvantaged groups, integration of healthcare systems, and professional development at the interface of health and social services. She has made significant contributions to understanding healthcare processes, particularly regarding migrant populations and the design of patient-centered care models. Her current research focuses on developing frameworks for competency-based nursing education through the Sage SAGE! project.

Dieterich's publications reveal a consistent emphasis on healthcare inequalities, with particular attention to marginalized populations. Her work spans health policy analysis, healthcare system design, patient-physician relationships, and access barriers for migrants. She has increasingly focused on professionalization in nursing and the development of competency frameworks that address real-world healthcare challenges while considering social determinants of health.

Prof. Dieterich actively contributes to multiple research networks and committees, including serving as a trusted advisor for the Hans-Böckler Foundation. Her work bridges academic research with practical healthcare applications, particularly through her involvement in projects addressing healthcare access for undocumented migrants and her contributions to health policy discussions in Germany. She is deeply engaged in the Sage SAGE! project focused on establishing gender- and diversity-equitable academic professionalization in SAGE disciplines (Social work, Health sciences, Education).
