Anja Böckmann

Anja Böckmann is a CNRS Research Director (DR1) and Principal Investigator at the Department of Molecular Microbiology and Structural Biochemistry (MMSB UMR 5086 CNRS/University Lyon 1, France). She leads the Protein Solid-State NMR group and has held various leadership roles in European magnetic resonance societies.

Her research focuses on structural biology using NMR spectroscopy, particularly studying viral membrane proteins (HBV, SARS-CoV-2), amyloid fibrils (A-β, α-synuclein), and molecular machines (DnaB helicase). She has pioneered solid-state NMR techniques for structural analysis.

Key trends in her 138+ publications include: structural characterization of viral capsids and envelope proteins, amyloid protein dynamics, and technical advancements in NMR methodologies for large protein assemblies. She has been recognized with prestigious awards such as the CNRS Bronze Medal and the Impulscience® Award.
