Anja Botngård is an Associate Professor at the Department of Public Health and Nursing, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). With clinical experience from medical pulmonary wards, pediatric emergency departments, and the Sexual Assault Center at St. Olavs Hospital, she holds a PhD in Medicine and Health Sciences focusing on elder abuse in Norwegian nursing homes.

Her research focuses on violence, abuse, and neglect across age groups, particularly in institutional care settings. Recent work includes:

- 2024: Family-perpetrated abuse in Norwegian nursing homes
- 2021: Abuse prevalence and risk factors in elder care
Botngård leads co-creation initiatives between NTNU and St. Olavs Hospital for clinical nursing supervision models. She actively participates in outreach programs addressing abuse prevention in both pediatric and geriatric contexts through lectures and conferences.
